Goldteam wins Power League Football
Good news this month from Goldteam’s Five a Side Soccer team. After a tactically hard fought and brilliantly played succession of games and eliminations, our lads were ultimately victorious in the local “Power League” Outdoor Astroturf - Five a Side finals played out on Monday last, 17/09/2007.
Goldteam’s Soccer Team Captain and General Manager, Azim Dad, enthusiastically commented on their fine achievement:
“It has been a hard fought campaign, over these last 14 weeks, and a bruising one to say the least. Our Quality of play, tactical efficiency, then a few mishaps, a few injuries and mistakes - led to two losses, but the 12 wins out of 14 games played guaranteed us the title, as the Division 4 League Champions.
Breathtaking football and some master class performances! Special thanks go to Asad Akhtar and Yasar Rafiq for putting up some excellent performances, fighting for the team whenever the Goldteam strip was donned. The first of our many intended silverware trophies will be placed on show in the display cabinet due shortly to be positioned in Goldteam’s reception area!
This win will encourage us to enrol for the next season’s campaign. In passing, it was a great pity that we didn’t have as many of our Goldteam staff members turning up as we would have liked, to watch the games played out, as the atmosphere has been electric. Our team spirit and honed good form will enable us successfully contest and to win the future campaign in Division 3. Well done Goldteam FC”!
